I've had to replace perhaps 25 - 30% of my 50 or so Insteon devices over 10 months. Some stopped responding to paddle presses, some completely died, some had buggy firmware and some had communications problems. It's pretty sad really. I was hoping Leviton or another high quality manufacture would have gotten on the Insteon bandwagon by now but they've all gone with other technologies. I too am regretting my decision. Smarthome just hasn't done a very good job with the hardware or the firmware (i.e the KPL bugs, PLC problems, etc.).
