I am brand new to home automation, I started with the ActiveHome starter kit. I also purchase a W800USB reciever since I could not get the hawkeye sensors to work unless I put a TM751 in the same room.

Now I am looking to tie everything together with software - I am looking at PowerHome as well as Active Home and HouseBot - but none seem to support either the CM15A or the W800USB. I was under the impression these were the backbone ( at least for the RF recieving part) of a system. Am I off base here? Id like to stick with X10 to start - as the week after I recieved my starter kit - I ran into a box of X10 parts at a yard sale - she asked $1 for the box.

From research I am assuming the W800USB picks up the RF from sensors - then through a CM15A or TM751 controls other devices over power line. If that is true then why no support for these devices? Funny because I see a post Dec 2004 and again June 2009 discussing support for the CM15A.

Anyway - if anyone can shed a little guidance - Id appreciate it.

You know, I have no idea why most packages don't support the CM15A.

 | The CM11A (old) is the one that has the most support.
Maybe someone that knows more about the CM15A and PH will chime in soon.

So any responses on the W800USB? Is there a plugin for that or am I not configuring the W800rf32a serial properly?

       | The USB model incorporates a "virtual COM port" allowing it to function with all existing applications that were created for RS232 COM port as well as any new USB applications. | | | Do you have the COM port set correctly in Setup, Controllers?

My new machine is not compatible with the old card I had, and I've been fighting with 4 usb-serial adapteur for the last 4 days. I really hate them when the use of the adapter is for long term and permanent use.

The card I had for the last 2 years is a SIIG brand, which you can easily google. Seek second page of products.

He states that he has a W800USB, so, a true serial card is not an option.

It is set up correctly - it comes with a self test utility - turn off any HA program, start the utility, then you can cycle through com1-4 till it gets signals. The range of this is incredible - that is why I am looking to get it working. Picks up signals from cross the yard. Using the utility that is, but the utility just logs events - you need to hook into a transmitter to send x10 signals back out.

To be clear, once you saw what port the utility used, you set that port up in PH?

I have been messing with this since I got home, deleted all the controllers from setup - then added the W800RF32 back in and set com 3 - and reinitialized PH - works!!

Woo-hoo - now on to see how it picks up the DS10s, cool - Data 4 = open, Data 132 = closed.

More progress tonight in an hour than I did since I got it 2 weeks ago, now off to see what I can set up for the trick-r-treaters
