 | I currently have a 2414U.
I am not sure what settings to use. I tried both on the list and I get lots of errors...

The 2414U is a USB PLC. Powerhome supports that device per the following from Features list...

"Insteon control using USB or Serial PowerLinc V2 and the SmartHome Device Manager."

Under Powerhome Explorer/Setup/Controllers/ the Controller Type is Insteon DM. I used a Serial PLC for several months before moving to a PLM. What messages are you receiving?

After PH has started there will be a blue T shaped Icon in the system tray representing the Smartlabs SDM3 device manager. Double click on the T Icon to open the SDM3 window. Type dm which will open a command line at the bottom of the window. In the command line type isresponding and hit enter. The response should be true if the SDM3 is able to communicate with the PLC.

 This is what I get.
This also works fine in Homeseer.

So I think it is software not hardware

In the powerhome/smarthome subdirectory there are two bat files, 235.bat and 308.bat. These bat files establish which version of sdm3 will be used.   You can tell from the file size of SDM3.exe compared to SDM3.exe.235 or SDM3.exe.308 which level SDM3 is currently being used by Powerhome. You can try running the opposite xxx.bat file to see if a different level SDM3 works any better. I ran the 308 level when using my serial PLC.

See if you can type in “getlinks” in the DM window and you should see the links being built. And finally you could do a hard reset on the PLC and see what that produces.

Well, I wonder maybe everything is working and you had a false startup message. Have you tried anything else? You do a hard reset by holding the button for 10 seconds or more as you plug it back in. But then you should follow it by a download min.
