Hi Guys:

I recently had my ceiling fan replaced in my house.

I see that the new fan has a remote control. It is an RF based remote control.

I was wondering if anybody knows of an RF Transmitter that I can insert into my Insteon (or presumably X.10) to control the fan?

I realize I would have to program the device, I'm hoping for something that can "Learn" the remote.

 Thanks

A few years ago I tried to build an IR to RF circuit based on Dave Houston's design (search over at RemoteCentral.com) so that I could control my fan via IR (Pronto or PC blaster) but was never able to get it to work and ended up getting distracted by a differneent. It was something similar to this: http://www.rentron.com/IR_TO_RF.htm

In the end I ended up using an inline x10 appliance module. I can turn the fan on and off via wall switches or powerHome, but I have to use the remote to adjust the speed - not ideal, but it works.

You could always hack one of the remote and a relay controler (or a couple x10 universal modules)

Let us know what you come up with!
